Silverstone Technology Cluster
23rd March 2022The Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC) held the Tackling Cultural Changes in the Workplace event hosted by Hexagon on Thursday, the 17th March. Led by the Digital & Advanced Manufacturing (D&AM) Special Interest Group (SIG), the event offered valuable insights from industry leaders, who shared their experience and knowledge on the topic.
The event focused on the human aspect of the digital revolution in the post-pandemic landscape. With new technologies constantly being developed and employee growth and well-being at the forefront of business leaders’ minds, how do they ensure their workforce keep up with the changes?
The shift in attitudes since the advent of working from home due to Covid-19, has raised a number of questions for businesses worldwide. Our guest speakers addressed some key challenges and offered useful insights on and recommendations on how to navigate this new work environment more effectively. In addition to the presentations, our speakers also took part in a panel Q&A session, which inspired some interesting discussions around cultural change, and delved more into the practical application of change techniques leaders could apply straight away.
The discussion, guided by Niall Johanson, Special Interest Group Champion from Charpak highlighted the importance of communication and understanding the different approaches.
Niall said: “Days like today show the sheer practicality of moving to new ways of doing things and the ease of it. We went into great detail on new collaborative ways of working and new ways of developing people as they change, as social media changes, and the social scene that people work in changes. Business leaders of SMEs are finding this difficult and the more we could do to show them how easy it is, how profitable it is and that there is a return on their investment, the better it is for their businesses and employees alike.”
Our thanks go to our expert panellist speakers:
· Simon Garwood, formerly of Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd
· Phil Hammett, Sales and Marketing Director at MPA
· John Henderson, Director at Sara Penrose
· Aly King-Smith, Director of Clearworks Coaching
