“Really excellent!” STC achieves ‘high silver’ corporate social responsibility accreditation

Silverstone Technology Cluster

8th June 2022

Silverstone Technology Cluster’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) credentials have been awarded a ‘high’ silver rating by independent assessors.

The STC achieved a score of 77% – just 3% shy of a gold rating at its first attempt – and demonstrates the STC’s abilities across the ‘four pillars’ by which businesses are assessed:

·       Environment

·       Workplace

·       Community

·       Philanthropy

STC CEO Pim van Baarsen enthused: “Achieving this accreditation is a great testament to our dedication towards growing our organisation, with sustainability at the very heart of everything we do and always striving to drive positive impact.

“It is very important that we lead by example and we always ensure our work supports our members, our suppliers, our partners, and the community we operate in. Therefore, this achievement marks a very positive step in our journey.”

The STC submitted its initial application to CSR Accreditation, -itself a member of the STC-  a specialist in corporate and social responsibility.

The application was then handed to independent assessors. On reviewing the application – which included supporting evidence in areas such as waste management, energy performance, staff training and employee engagement and community outreach/charity work – they awarded the STC its 77% silver score.

Richard Collins, founder of CSR Accreditation commented: “For a small business like the STC, a high silver is a really excellent result and gives them running room to consider re-submitting in three years.

“To ensure credibility and transparency, the three assessors are selected at random from a pool of 40 independent experts from the public and private sectors.

“It is fair to say that they were impressed with the STC’s application and felt that next time around the STC could definitely achieve a gold.”
