STC and Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted this event to share insights and learn more about how technology can drive sustainable innovation for Manufacturers. We heard from industry leaders and experts talk on how UK manufacturers can transform their operations and how they could start their smart factory journeys.

Hannah Hassard (AWS IoT Specialist) opened the day with a welcome session to set the scene, before Henry Bob-Manuel (AWS Principal Business Development for Industrial & Manufacturing) kicked off discussions with his presentation on Enabling Industrial Operations and Transformation Through Data. Green Custard’s Director Jonathan Custance then took us through his Partner Session use cases, to give us all a flavour of the opportunities out there to UK manufacturers brought about by engaging with the IoT.

This session covered everything from the role that technology can play in accelerating manufacturing processes (including Machine Learning (ML), IoT, Robotics, and Analytics) to how manufacturers are progressing on their net zero journey.

Martin Hurworth (Bytronic Vision Automation) said: ‘It’s been a really interesting morning meeting the team from AWS and also Green Custard, understanding what they’ve been doing in terms of big data, and how they’re using it with manufacturers in the UK to improve sustainability, productivity and things like energy reduction. There are massive opportunities for the UK to really get our arms around this. It’s definitely something that manufacturing should be getting involved in.’
