Sustainability Solutions Showcased at DSM SIG Event

The Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC) held their Design, Simulation and Metrology Special Interest Group Event, Simulated Sustainability at the Hexagon facility in the Silverstone Park Innovation Centre.

Hosted by Tim Gears, Business Development Manager at Hexagon, the event featured expert insights from the following speakers:

  • Dr Cristiana Pace, Founder and Director – E-novation Consulting, provided a fascinating insight into how to make sustainability a key performance measure for your business and how your business will benefit as a result.
  • Richard Newhouse, Sales Director – Status Metrology, gave an insightful presentation about how sustainability has become a key driver in their business.
  • Mike White, Senior Structural Engineer – Smith & Wallwork, provided an insight into Mass Timber Construction – the future of buildings.
  • Dr Pamela Farries, Technology Manager – Midlands Aerospace Alliance talked about Aerospace Unlocking Potential, an exciting funding programme that is available for companies wanting support with their sustainability drive.
  • Paul Kirkham from Altair UK detailed their work with Vortex Bladeless and how they managed to gain significant gains in efficiency through effective simulation.

STC CEO Pim van Baarsen, commented; “It was great to hold our Design, Simulation & Metrology event at Hexagon, a wonderful facility based at Silverstone Park. The presentations were all extremely interesting, each showcasing the role design and simulations can play in reducing carbon footprints, as well as highlighting technology to increase efficiencies and reduce waste. As always, we enjoyed some great networking opportunities. It was good to see the discussions in the room as well, as this is clearly a topic of huge importance”.
