STC membership continues to rise into 2020

Silverstone Technology Cluster

10th December 2019

Having broken through the 100 mark in September, Silverstone Technology Cluster’s membership has continued to grow and at the end of November stood at 112.

The vast majority of members are businesses operating in high-tech engineering and manufacturing – in particular innovative start-up and SMEs which the STC places a priority on supporting.

Other members comprise professional services businesses which support high-tech engineering.

Membership grants access to the STC’s special interest groups (SIGs) as well as other key networking events, including its celebrated Annual Conference and VIP Lounge at the Advanced Engineering Show.

Chris Beatty Design based in Pitstone, Bucks is one of the businesses to have joined the STC membership in recent months.

Founder Chris Beatty commented: “I am a 3D visual design consultant to some of the world’s fastest-moving brands such as US racing series IndyCar, Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the Institute of Neurology and many more.

“As a new member of the STC I am excited by the opportunity to engage with innovative companies and network with potential technology partners.

“The STC represents a group of individuals and organisations that are at the cutting edge of industry.”

Daventry based Envertis helps organisations develop sustainability strategies as USPs to win business, attract staff and reduce energy, waste and material costs. It also supports implementation of quality and environmental management systems to ISO9001 & ISO14001.

As a new STC member, MD Richard Ansell has already rubbed shoulders with academics, policy makers and industry figures as an invited guest at an influential electric vehicle workshop at Silverstone Park and was looking ahead to the Design, Simulation & Metrology SIG as we went to press (10 Dec).

Richard said: “I believe new technology is key to the future growth of British industry, particularly manufacturing.

“I am excited about discovering if my clients would benefit from STC members’ products. If I was also able to provide support to help any STC members grow, that would be really rewarding.”

Northampton start-up Engineering Entropy provides high quality simulation and mechanical design services to the power electronics industry. Founder Max Taylor-Smith says the STC’s electric vehicle capabilities are among the reasons why he has become a member.

“The growth market in the power electronics world – primarily through electrification of vehicles – is obvious to see for anyone who has an interest in engineering,” explained Max.

“We are passionate about new, sustainable technologies and product improvements and see a great opportunity to expand our knowledge through link-ups with the technology centres in the area.

“I’m really keen to bounce new tech ideas off other minds in the room, and get talking about blue sky collaboration while the EV iron is still hot!”
