MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Engineering the Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for the day to day running and resource management of projects assigned to them.

They will support the H of E and Engineering team in biding, setting up, and kick off of project plans and work scope.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • The project management of projects assigned to you.
  • A project is defined as a group of tasks, that requires the input from one or more departments. The management responsibility includes developing accurate project costings, producing company approved proposals, monitoring and maintaining work progress, and ensuring cross departmental communication.
  • The establishment, maintenance & tracking of project & departmental resource plans.
  • It is recognised that in order for cross-department project plans to function correctly the company must eventually have in place a fully functioning work-load and resource plan for Technical Group.
  • Developing key project performance metrics support new project forecasting
  • Understanding the success of any project is a key part of understanding the accuracy of the costing process, the project profitability, and the actions required to improve the process on future projects. As a result, and working with Finance, it will be the responsibility of the department to develop the tools and metrics necessary to achieve these objectives.
  • Support the H of E with long term resource & departmental planning:
  • The review and development of Process, Procedure, and other company documents relating to Project management.
  • Support JRM strategic development of project management tools and techniques.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
  • Compliance with all departmental H&S requirements
  • Compliance, where appropriate with management, & environmental, systems, such as ISO 9001 & ISO 14001

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 3 years working in industry, ideally within transportation.
  • University degree graduate, or equivalent in Engineering, or a science.
  • An understanding of car or commercial vehicle design is an advantage.
  • Experience of manufacturing industry is an advantage.

Any JRM employee may be asked on occasion to perform additional or unrelated duties, after appropriate training has been given, if required.

Summary Terms & Conditions

  • Pension – Upon joining the Company, you will be automatically enrolled, with contributions starting after successful completion of the probationary period. On completion of one years’ service, and subject to the rules, you will be invited to participate in the main JRM pension scheme.
  • Leave entitlement – 25 days per year plus statutory holidays (compulsory shutdown of three days at Christmas).
  • Notice period – There will be an initial three-month probationary period, during which notice will be one week on either side. On successful completion of the probationary period notice will be one month.
  • Working hours – 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.
