Our client is a global market leader in the manufacture of high performance automated production lines with an exceptional industry reputation for quality, innovation and value. With an outstanding service team, renowned for service operations globally, our client is currently recruiting a Field Service Engineer with experience of packaging or food processing machinery to strengthen their UK team.

This position has the responsibility for installing, inspecting, fault finding and servicing of high performance bakery equipment at various customer facilities in the UK, the primary locations being the Midlands and the North with also the possibility of travel to Greece, USA and Canada as required.

Responsibilities

  • You will deliver outstanding technical field service to all customers
  • You will be responsible for the service, inspection, installation and fault finding on a wide variety of bakery equipment
  • Perform mechanical, electrical and electronic servicing along with the installation of software on a range of PLC’s, HMI’s, inverters and servo drives
  • Supervise electrical installations on a range of large scale projects to meet the client / project specifications
  • Attend client sites to perform project planning, method statements and risk assessments as required whilst ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard
  • Commissioning and testing on a wide range of high speed automated bakery production lines
  • Ordering replacement parts as required
  • Compiling inspection reports and quotations as required
  • Liaise with suppliers and other group companies
  • Liaise with clients to help build long term profitable relationships

Desired Skills and experience

  • An engineering trade qualification Electrical/Electronic or Degree or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Several years’ demonstrable experience on the installation, fault finding and servicing of PLC’s, HMI’s, inverters and Servo drives
  • 17th Edition Electrical Certification qualified
  • Good working knowledge of embedded software systems
  • 2-5 years’ experience within a similar role, fast learner and driven to action
  • Customer focussed, used to ensuring high levels of customer service and satisfaction
  • Strong commercial acumen aligned with excellent influencing skills, able to be seen as a trusted partner and advisor
  • A confident communicator with strong presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • The individual must have excellent problem-solving skills, be highly organised and be able to set clear agendas and objectives
  • When not on clients site, the role will be home based, calling on customers and helping to support a 24/7 technical support function
