Meet the STC team: Galina Cleal

Silverstone Technology Cluster

14th July 2022

From a love of animals and plants to Zoom calls with movie superheroes… meet Galina Cleal, recently appointed the Silverstone Technology Cluster’s Events, Partnerships and Marketing Manager.

With 12 years’ experience in marketing, communications and events management across different industries, including automotive and, more recently, construction and placemaking, Galina has taken to her role with the STC like a duck to water.

“I’m working very closely with Pim (van Baarsen, STC CEO), running the calendar of events including the special interest groups, business growth, our presence at other industry events and of course the Annual Conference – anything and everything really when it comes to events and marketing,” explains Galina, aged 32.

“I find it very exciting – it’s really diverse, there are a lot of interesting people I meet every day and I also get to work with a lot of innovative businesses involved in some really amazing projects that will change the world.”

Galina re-located to England from her native Bulgaria in 2008 to study at Coventry University. “I did my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Events and Marketing and decided to stay after that to see where life would take me next. And I have been in for quite the adventure ever since.”

A fun fact about Galina is that she got to meet a Hollywood movie star in an on-line call last year.

“It was Jason Momoa (‘Aquaman’ in the DC superhero films) and I was a bit starstruck even if it was over Zoom and not even in person!”

Outside of work, Galina’s biggest passion is nature and wildlife.

“I’m a crazy animal lady and also a plant fanatic!

“I volunteer for the Dogs Trust on weekends and have a little zoo of my own with two dogs, two cats and a guinea pig. I’m all about animals, no matter what their shape or size, and doing my best to help them.

“It’s the same with plants. I have lemon and lime trees and a eucalyptus tree amongst all the other plants in the garden and I love to grow my own vegetables. So far, I have been quite successful with radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes and courgettes.

“But really, I shouldn’t be left unattended in a garden centre or who knows what the consequences would be.”
