Fascinating presentations given at the STC’s first event for its Autonomous Connected, Electrified & Shared special interest group (ACES SIG) – from Faraday Partnership, Meridian, Gateway Technolabs and EV Outlook – are now available to download on the STC website.

Simply CLICK HERE to access the presentations which focus on areas such as:

  • Funding mechanisms in battery technology and CAV
  • Connected space and use of Blockchain
  • Manufacturing and storage/maintenance implications of battery technology
  • A shift to a ‘circular economy’ and an emerging ‘share culture’ within industry

Additional presentations from JCC Bowers on Advanced AI for autonomous vehicles, ‘hive learning’ and IP, plus Romax on issues around transmissions and electrification will also be available soon.

The event, held at Silverstone Park’s Metrology Facility, attracted experts from across the UK and IP in particular was a hot topic of discussion.

Gateway Technolabs’ Shaun McManus commented: “IP is important – it can help the UK slow down other countries and really take a lead. We used to be bound by other countries whereas now we have very well educated and innovative people.

“What is interesting is how far you go on IP. Of course people shouldn’t be able to steal two years of very hard work but, likewise, people shouldn’t be able to stifle the market by holding onto total control.”

Shaun added: “So much is happening so fast in this area of technology that some revolutionary steps forward are required with greater collaboration and camaraderie among like-minded individuals.

“Not even the OEMs have the wherewithal to develop everything completely on their own so people need to move forwards together.”

Fellow SIG champion Simon Holloway of RML Group Ltd said: “We were very pleased with the quality of the presentations and especially the interesting debate in the room at the end (led by EV Outlook on changing attitudes).

“It really highlights what the group is all about and helps to move the conversation forward. We look forward to continuing the debate at future events.”
