Silverstone Technology Cluster

7th July 2022

The Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC) held their Vision 2030:  The Future of Mobility Special Interest Group Event on Thursday, 7th July. The event prompted insightful discussion about the future of the transport and mobility industry as well as the wider socio-economic landscape that businesses need to navigate as part of the journey to Net Zero.

After discussing the outcomes of COP26, the implications of the subsequent sustainability goals set by the government and their impact on businesses across the country, our panellists delved into the associated challenges surrounding infrastructure, supply chain and behaviours that need to be addressed. The second panel continued the discussion with particular emphasis on mobility, transport, and motorsport and the various solutions currently being developed, including electric vehicles, hydrogen and biofuels, autonomous vehicles, and public transport.

Both panel discussions inspired questions from the audience and prompted further conversations around behaviours and the importance of cultural change in relation to successfully adopting new and greener technology.

We would like to say a special thank you to Dr Cristiana Pace and Jule Schulte from Enovation Consulting for moderating the two panels.

Our thanks also go to our panellists:

  • Richard Saxby – McLaren Applied
  • Hrag Sarkissian – eSkootr Championship
  • Simon Dowson – Cosworth
  • Archie Watts-Farmer – Carnot Engines
  • Richard Collins – CSR Accreditation
  • Kelly Morris and Nick Lanegan – Clearview Intelligence

Don’t forget our next event, Access to Finance: Funding for Innovation Workshop will take place on the 14th July.
