High-tech community more informed as Silverstone Technology Cluster expands online

Silverstone Technology Cluster

22nd June 2017

The Silverstone Technology Cluster has expanded its website significantly – providing members with further services to help them promote their businesses.

SilverstoneTechnologyCluster.com now includes a members’ directory as well as latest news, a jobs board, an events calendar and a section relating to the special interest groups (SIGs) currently being set up.

STC CEO Pim van Baarsen commented: “The response has been very good and to have over 20 members on board since we launched STC at the end of 2016 is something I’m proud of.

“A real benefit is that those members represent a really good cross-section of companies from 3D printing to electric vehicles, engineering consultancies, software, additive manufacturing, CFD and low carbon technologies, engine technology and powertrains and into component design and manufacturing.”

STC is the not-for-profit company set up to raise awareness and promote the Silverstone Technology Cluster – the region within a one-hour radius of Silverstone that an in-depth report identified as being exceptional in high-tech know-how and capability. CLICK HERE for more…

The report was researched and authored by SQW – the highly rated economic and social development research agency SQW whose findings first brought the ‘Cambridge Phenomenon’ to public attention.

Both the Government and the business and finance community were among those to respond favourably when the report was published in summer 2016.

Pim continued: “We’ve really cracked on and expanded the site so it keeps people informed as to how the STC is progressing and enables members to post their own news and vacancies as well.

“Our first SIG – computer aided engineering – has now started. We’re talking CAD, CFD, simulation, modelling… We had an open meeting on this topic and that has generated a lot of enthusiasm.

“I’m personally confident that off the back of that we will attract a lot of interest in the STC and further high-tech special interest groups.”
