Funding, Guidance and Tech Support at Digital & Advanced Manufacturing Special Interest Group event

Silverstone Technology Cluster

8th October 2020

The ‘Routes to Manufacturing Success’ STC event by the Digital & Advanced Manufacturing SIG saw delegates being introduced to support and guidance available to SME’s for funding, digitisation and technological development programmes.

Alberto Minguela from HSSMI gave the opening presentation, providing a useful overview of available funds, as well as useful tips on how to find funding competitions and bid for them.

Allen Camm of Made Smarter followed, showing why digital technology is crucial to business success and highlighting the case for adopting digital technology. The subsequent Q&A session provided a lot of information on how to follow up and take advantage of the Made Smarter initiative aiming to provide technology adoption support to SME manufacturers across the UK, explaining how to get in the queue for when this programme is rolled out across the UK.

Last but not least, Shirley Harrison from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre illustrated how, through its various programmes, AMRC can be a powerful ally for SME businesses wanting to develop new technologies.

Pim van Baarsen, STC CEO, commented: “The event today was another powerful example of what we are here to do – giving people valuable and practical guidance on things that can help lift their business to the next level. Our thanks go out to our excellent speakers, and I know the Digital & Advanced Manufacturing SIG Champions are already planning the next event, so watch this space.”
