Join an illustrious panel of industry speakers who will be presenting war stories from the frontline of business continuity and crisis management. Our speakers will talk about what, how and why they made the decisions to address the challenges they faced during times of crisis and how they learned lessons for the future. During times of crisis our speakers made some innovative and creative choices to keep their businesses running. There will be time to ask the speakers what led them to choices they made and how we can benefit from their experiences.

 

Speaker: Chris Youles

OU CIO, is CIO at the Open University, leading a major technology enabled transformation programme and with responsibility for business change and business performance improvement, data analytics/data hub, learning systems and a blended offshore/onshore function providing a full range of technology services from front end digital, including digital learning content, to back-office core ERP/administration functions. The University has embarked on a significant programme of enhanced digital delivery across all aspects of the service, supported by AI, machine learning, etc. to dramatically improve the student experience and bring industry leading personalisation. Additionally, new, cloud based SAP core administration, ERP & CRM systems are being delivered to underpin the new front-end digital services. Blended technology/business teams organised into product orientated verticals are driving the delivery and ensuring a business led, business informed approach

 

Speaker: Jesmond Baldacchino

Head of I.T. Maltafreeport Terminals Ltd.

Jesmond Baldacchino has been actively involved within the Maltese Information Technology scenario for over 25 years and is currently a Fellow at the Institute of Management and Information Systems (British Computer Society). He commenced his career at Mid-Med Bank (now HSBC) holding several IT roles in operations and software development. After acquiring the necessary expertise and know-how at the Bank he took over the full responsibility of the Management of HSBC Malta’s IT Customer Services Division providing crucial internal IT support for the Bank’s IT setup.

 

With 10 years’ experience at the Bank, he continued his career path and joined a Business Incubation Company, iWorld Group, where he was responsible for all IT operations. However, in 2001, he decided to take another challenge in his career and joined Malta Freeport Terminals, a key player amongst the Mediterranean transshipment ports. Indeed the Freeport is a leading Company in Malta providing employment for around 1,200 employees. Within the maritime sector, efficiency plays a vital role hence further accentuating on the importance of technology. At Malta Freeport, Jesmond is responsible for the overall ICT and IS setup. Jesmond plays an instrumental role in the implementation of the various new technological systems and regular systems upgrades which are essential for the Company to further boost its position within the Mediterranean containerisation industry. His capabilities and professional pro-active approach towards work are contributing to the positive results being attained by Malta Freeport.

 

Speaker: Geoff Hudson-Searle

Managing Director – International Business and Executive Management Limited. Geoff is a serial business advisor, C-Suite Executive and Non-Executive Director to growth-phase tech companies. Rated by Agilience as a Top 250 Harvard Business School authority covering; ‘Strategic Management’ and ‘Management Consulting’.

Geoff has over 28 years of experience in the business and management arena, he is author of 5 books ‘Freedom after the Sharks’, ‘Meaningful Conversations’, ‘Journeys to Success Volume 9’, GOD in Business and his latest bestselling book ‘Purposeful Discussions’. He lectures at business forums, conferences and universities and has been the focus of TEDx and RT Europe’s business documentary across various thought leadership topics and his authorisms.

A member and fellow of the Institute of Directors, associate of The Business Institute of Management, a co-founder and board member of the Neustar International Security Council (NISC) and a distinguished member of the Advisory Council for The Global Cyber Academy. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Having worked for corporate companies including Citibank N.A, MICE Group Plc, Enigma Design, MMT Inc, Kaspersky Laboratory, Bartercard Plc, and RG Group around the world, Geoff has vast international experience working with SME and multinational clients.
