STC Membership Continues To Boom

Silverstone Technology Cluster

7th December 2018

Less than two years after it was formed, close to 90 businesses and organisations have now signed up as members of the Silverstone Technology Cluster.

At the end of November 2018 the total number was 89. The STC was launched in Dec 2016/Jan 2017.

STC CEO Pim van Baarsen commented: “The number is terrific but even more impressive is the incredible diversity and capabilities of the membership.

“We have everything from electronics, software development, R&D, aerodynamics and CFD, 3D/digital printing, additive manufacturing, carbon fibre and other advanced materials to those in the professional services which support the high tech industry such as legal, marketing, financial and recruitment.

“This incredible wealth of knowledge has helped us form four special interest groups (SIGs) which are now providing industry with really strong thought leadership. “Likewise the feedback from those who have joined tells us that membership is having really positive benefits for their businesses through greater collaboration and opportunities.”

Membership benefits businesses by offering them access to influential networking events while the STC also works to attract potential investment for them.

Antycip Simulation in Banbury, a leading integrator of professional grade virtual reality, display and simulation solutions, is among the businesses to have joined the STC in recent months.

Its European Marketing Manager Frank Reynolds said: “By being a member of the STC we gain opportunities to network with peer group partners and benefit from the growing national and global footprint of the cluster a centre of high technology engineering excellence.”

Another is Global Inkjet Systems based in Cambridge – a leader in digital inkjet printing and deposition technologies.

Its Business Development Director Debbie Thorp explained: “GIS is delighted to join the STC. We see this as a unique opportunity to network and knowledge share with like-minded innovative high tech companies. “We hope we can share our expertise in using inkjet in additive and advanced manufacturing applications and also learn and understand more about the challenges and needs of a very diverse portfolio of companies in the cluster.”

Her sentiments have been echoed by fellow newcomer PUNCH Flybrid, the leader in high performance flywheel energy storage solutions based at Silverstone Park.

MD Tobias Knichel said: “Having worked for over ten years in the Silverstone region, I’m a big believer in the world class capabilities of the many enterprises located in the area. “PUNCH Flybrid joined the STC to promote and benefit from the capabilities of the Silverstone high tech cluster.”
