PNB & Charpak feeling “immediate power” of STC membership
9th April 2019

PNB Mobile and Charpak say membership of the Silverstone Technology Cluster has brought immediate results for their businesses with each being contacted by potential new clients.

Both are among 11 businesses to subscribe in the first quarter of 2019 as total STC membership moves closer to the magic 100.

Brackley based PNB is a mobile app developer. In the last decade it has worked with major global brands as well as some of the UK’s most successful start-up and SME businesses.

More recently it teamed up with Brackley Town Council to develop the highly rated Brackley App.

Founder Mark Sinclair enthused: “The STC has clear and defined attractions for us. The opportunity to invest in our local area whilst building relationships with other technology businesses was irresistible. As a full service digital agency that has been producing mobile apps for a myriad from all sorts of industries, we are keen to forge links with the dynamic tech cluster here on our own doorstep.”

Mark said STC membership was timely as PNB seeks to learn, develop and expand.

He added: “From the very first moment we joined we saw the power and benefits of membership in action. We had only been members for a matter of moments when we were contacted by a cluster member and have since started working with them. Their multi-sector product is a perfect fit for our services.”

STC membership for Huntingdon based Charpak has opened up opportunities for its thermoformed plastics which, designed bespoke for customers, provide critical and fragile component protection within complex manufacturing supply chains.

This can range from packaging for cheesecakes on a supermarket shelf to critical electrical components in a car.

Business Development Manager Niall Johanson commented: “We want to get the message out there that our methods are sustainable as well as highly cost effective so completely unique and part of that process is networking with an organisation like the STC.

“We’ve already done quotes for people we met at the Autonomous, Connected, Electrified and Shares (ACES) special interest group event in February.

“Plus companies in automotive have contacted us to look at solutions to protect colourful or decorative electronic parts that can become damaged during transportation – a similar concept to protecting fragile foods in the boot of your car on the way home from the supermarket!”

He continued: “What we’ve been particularly impressed with is what Chair Roz Bird has said about joining up the STC with the other clusters between Oxford and Cambridge to make it a globalised ‘super cluster’. My background links packaging in automotive with F1 hydraulics and engine preparation, so linking with the STC and other companies coming out of motorsport engineering is a big deal for us.”
